Friends of the Plainfield Public Library

The Friends of the Plainfield Public Library (FOPPL) is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that helps support one of the finest public libraries in New Jersey.

The Friends Mission is to promote the general interests of the Plainfield Public Library and the community it serves by maintaining an association of people interested in the library and its resources; focusing public attention on the facilities and services of the library; and assisting the library in providing those facilities and services which will improve its usefulness to the community.

Who is eligible to join?
There are no membership restrictions and annual dues are reasonable:

Activities of the Friends

The Friends of the Plainfield Public Library support the library and the community in a variety of ways:

ADVOCACY

  • Promoting the value of a free Public Library throughout the community.
  • Informing the community of the library's resources & services.
  • Lobbying private and public agencies about the library's funding needs.
  • Encouraging volunteerism for special services and projects


    FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

  • Save-the-date!
    Mark your calendars for our Annual Wine Discovery at one Plainfield’s most gracious homes. September 25th 2010.
  • Membership Dues & Donations (These are the core source of funds provided by FOPPL to the Library.)


LIBRARY PROGRAM SUPPORT

  • Adult Literacy Programs
  • Summer Reading Programs for youth and adults
  • Conservation and preservation of local history resources
  • Special projects throughout the year
  • Support of the Library's Capital Campaign
  • Purchases of furniture and equipment


COMMUNITY SUPPORT

  • Presenting author events and other programs of interest to the community.
  • Participating with other agencies and organizations in Plainfield on community-wide activities.
