News You Can Use with a Mouse Click!

With a click of the mouse, Plainfield Public Library cardholders with access to the Internet can now view over 700 U.S. newspapers and 27 popular magazines via the NewsBank “America’s Newspapers” database, available on line at www.plainfieldlibrary.info (click on “online databases” tab on the bottom left of the home page).

Current and recent editions of local and national publications are available, including recent runs of the Star-Ledger, the Courier News, and the New York Times.

Users requiring the New York Times prior to the year 2000 no longer have to sift through reel upon reel of microfilm in the library. The ProQuest Historical Newspaper database, also available to Plainfield Public Library users via the Internet, provides the full run of the Times in full-page, digital format. The ProQuest database is an excellent source of information, from historical research to casual reference.

“It used to be that researchers spent hours pouring through written indexes to find references to their topics,” explains Plainfield Public Library Director Joe Da Rold. “Now, via electronic searching, the user is pointed to targeted articles within seconds.”

The Plainfield Public Library is located at 800 Park Avenue in Plainfield. For additional information on this and other electronic resources available to Plainfield Library users, please contact the Reference Department at 908-757-1111
ext. 112.
