LIBRARY FUNDING CUT! 

Reductions in hours and staffing announced.

Funding cutbacks, proposed by the Mayor of Plainfield and endorsed by the Plainfield City Council, are forcing the Plainfield Public Library to take dramatic action in order to keep the doors open to the public.

The Library, which traditionally receives only 2% of the entire City budget, has suffered a reduction of $300,000 in the current 2009-2010 budget.

To accommodate the loss of funding, the Library is cutting back hours and staffing.  The reduction in hours will lower the cost of building operations and will be paired with a substantial reduction of part-time staffing.

New Library Hours effective Saturday, March 6, 2010
Monday – Wednesday	9:00am - 8:00pm
Thursday and Friday	9:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday	9:00am – 1:00pm
Sunday	Closed
