About the Contest

Our 4th Annual Photograph Contest exhibition Four Seasons in Plainfield reflects various aspects of life in Plainfield at different times of the year.

This year’s competition met with the enthusiastic response of 21 contributors who entered 86 images of Plainfield.  Their photographs will help build our Local History photography archives by recording Plainfield activities in 2009.

All 86 entries have been digitized, indexed, and added to Plainfield Public Library’s Historic Photograph Collection, which consists of over 60,000 Plainfield photographs taken from 1840 through 2008. 

Funding from the Friends of the Plainfield Public Library made it possible to award cash prizes and ribbons for 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Place winners.  Honorable mention photographs were awarded ribbons.  This year students at Woodland Elementary School and Evergreen Elementary School were invited to participate, and the library provided their art teachers with disposable cameras.  Selected images from the students are featured in the exhibit, and ribbons were awarded to all student participants.
