PLAINFIELD IN FOCUS
“Plainfield In Focus: Photo-Documentation of a Changing Community” was designed to enhance our library’s local history collections by means of a community–wide photography contest, emphasizing Plainfield activities, transportation, and architecture. The contest drew 75 new works by 17 amateur photographers, highlighting Plainfield’s heritage, growth and culture.
The Plainfield Public Library’s 60,000-piece photograph collection includes images from nearly every decade from the 1870s through the 1990s. With the addition of photographs from this project, the Library’s collection of historical photographs becomes a living collection of images for the future.
The actual exhibit has been extended through August 2006, in the Anne Louise Davis Room on the lower level of the Library. This web-based exhibit, arranged by category of image, contains all submitted entries. However, a selection may be seen on the website’s main page by refreshing the page.
